Red Planet Training Schedule - 2008/2009

The class minimum is two people. If your company can send two or more people to Boulder for a course or host a course then we can schedule dates that suit you. If you have one attendee we can match you with another similar client and work out a suitable date and location.

Pricing

Pricing is $840 per person per day for one or two attendees plus any travel costs (3+ attendees please see custom training below). At this price we use examples from the Cambridge database. Red Planet also offers custom training at a flat rate of $1120 per day or $5600 per week plus travel (irrespective of attendence.) This price includes changing the in the course to use ones from the clients system.

Smallworld at 4.1 and Oracle Spatial
Duration: 5 Days
- Five day hands-on course designed for developers. Covers all the different permutations of using Smallworld CST and Oracle/Oracle Spatial. Examines and provides exercises with Oracle SOMs, Oracle Repository, Oracle Insync. Compares Oracle Spatial and GE smallworld and finally examines application development in Java using Oracle Mapviewer.

Smallworld at 4.1 Application Development
Duration: 5 Days
- Five day hands-on course designed for developers. Includes how to properly develop and deploy custom applications using SWAF and DataBus. , concluding in a development project. Course also available at earlier versions.

Advanced Smallworld 4.1 System and Database Administration
Duration: Abbreviated 3 day version of the 5 day course for advanced users
- The 5 day version for students with prior system administration experience skims the material dwelling on the portions the students would like to focus on. This is an excellent course for tapping into that "beyond the documentation" knowlege that only exposure to many different Smallworld environments can bring.

Smallworld Security
Duration: Abbreviated 2 day version of the 5 day course.
- Five day hands-on course covering the various aspects of security in Smallworld. How the Auth, Ace, Magik, SWMFS can be used to make Smallworld more secure, how to hack these things and how to prevent that from happening.

Introduction to Smallworld 4.1 Core Spatial Technology™
Duration: 1 Day
- One day hands-on course designed for developers. Includes a fast-paced survey of many topics in Smallworld Core Spatial Technology and a brief introduction to the changes at 4.1.

Smallworld at 4.1 Magik™ Programming

Duration: 4 Days
- Four day hands-on course designed for developers. Lectures as well as hands-on exercises.

Red Planet's Advanced Developer Training Suite
Duration: 5 days
- This is an Advanced Course for students who already have some exposure to Smallworld as a developer, but are seeking to further their skills in Magik and Application Development. Five days of hands-on instruction that includes OO concepts and advanced applications. Concludes in a team-development project.

Upgrading Smallworld Core Spatial Technology™
Duration: 4 days
- Four day hands-on course designed for developers. Includes instruction and issues surrounding application/database upgrades from version 3.10sp2 to 4.1, with a discussion of the new application framework (SWAF) at 4.1.

Smallworld 4.1 System and Database Administration
Duration: 10 days
- 10 day hands-on course covering every aspect of Smallworld 4.1 System and Database administration in detail.

Smallworld PowerOn® 3 - Seminar
Duration: 3 days
- Three day interactive course & discussion with new and existing PowerOn install sites, targeted at technical management and developers. Includes discussion of Network Model Changes, Network/customer Build Changes, and Application Tier Changes.

Smallworld PowerOn® 3 for Support Personnel
Duration: 5 days
- Five day course to prepare students to support a PowerON® 3 Installation. Focusing on the parts that are complex and/or break topics include underlying physical and logical models, network model build, server images, trouble analyzer and prediction and customization and configuration. Also includes many tips and tricks for getting under the hood of PowerON and the associated Oracle.

Smallworld PowerOn® 3 for Users
- Four day course to prepare students
to use PowerON® 3. All aspects of using PowerON® 3 are touched upon. Students learn how to work tasks in order to restore power in storm conditions as well as manage planned network maintenance.

Enterprise Database Administration
- Five day hands-on course designed for system administrators and developers. Includes datastore management, remote access to data, backups, compression & integrity, managing licenses, images, and user access.

Smallworld PowerOn 2.5.x for Dispatchers/Users/Analysts
- Five day hands-on course designed for Dispatchers, Users and Analysts. Students learn how to run PowerOn, display and interrogate orders in the PCW, use the PowerOn map window including the Circuit Browser and Map Overviewer, and perform outage management processes such as assigning and completing orders. In addition, students will have a basic understanding of PowerOn Functionality.

Smallworld PowerOn 2.5.x for Integrators and Developers
- Five day hands-on course designed for Developers, Integrators and Technical staff that support PowerOn implementations. Students learn the architecture of PowerOn, customization hooks, managing the trouble analyzer, database archiving, the network model build and update processes, trouble shooting network model update and order processing problems, running Oracle queries, and managing the Oracle database.
